Taipei, February 25, 2004 -- EVA Air today announced increased frequency on its Taipei-Hong Kong services from 40 to 49 flights per week. Providing seven daily departures, the new services will be effective from the start of the summer schedule on March 28, 2004.
The move comes as a result of Hong Kong-Taiwan air agreements, which allocated 17 potential new weekly services to Taiwanese carriers on the Taipei-Hong Kong route, also effective from the introduction of summer schedules. Among these 17, EVA Air has been granted nine flights. The carrier will take full advantage of its newly allocated traffic rights.
The capacity increase will signal the launch of a new daily service, flight BR 869, which will depart Taipei CKS airport at 12.40 pm. The remaining two flights will increase flight frequency on BR 871 from five per week to daily departures. The carrier's seven daily Taipei-Hong Kong services will depart Taipei at 8.20 am, 9.15 am, 10.20 am, 12.40 pm, 2.00 pm, 4.40 pm and 6.10 pm. EVA's Hong Kong flights now average one flight every 1-2 hours and provide travellers with convenient shuttle services for trips to Hong Kong or transit to Mainland China.
EVA's newly introduced A330-200 fleet will be deployed on some Hong Kong flights such as the popular BR865 which departs Taipei at 9.15 am, and the return flight from Hong Kong of BR866 at 12.00 noon. Every seat onboard EVA's brand new A330-200 has an individual, state-of-the-art audio/video on demand (AVOD) entertainment system. These customized systems use digital soft and hardware to give passengers complete control of a selection of as many as 20 movies or television features plus more than 500 audio files that can be edited into personalized play lists. The AVOD system also features games that enable passengers travelling together to play and enjoy friendly competition enroute. |
