EVA Air has added its third Airbus A330-200, configured with the airline's new Premium Laurel and enhanced Economy Classes. EVA Air Chairman K.C. Chang took delivery of the aircraft at Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France on Feb. 4. It was ferried to the airline's home in Taiwan and on Feb. 5, 2005, placed in service on the Taipei – Brisbane route.
The carrier's newest A330-200 is also being used in rotation on flights to Hong Kong and Tokyo with two Airbuses EVA purchased last year in addition to flying Bangkok and Macau trips. EVA’s A330-200s feature the carrier’s upgraded business and economy classes, and are outfitted stem to stern to give passengers comforts and services that are among the industry’s most advanced. Another of these aircraft will be introduced toward the end of February, and two more are scheduled for April and November deliveries. EVA will deploy these three aircraft on Vienna, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau and Bangkok trips.
"Response to our first A330-200s has been overwhelmingly positive from passengers traveling in both Premium Laurel and enhanced Economy Classes,” said K. W. Nieh, senior vice president of EVA Air. "Premium Laurel Class has proven to be especially successful. Its leading-edge features, advanced comforts and thoughtful cabin amenities provide our passengers with exceptionally high service quality. This is very good news for frequent travelers on our Taipei-Brisbane flights.” The lie-flat seats in Premium Laurel Class have a generous 61-in. pitch and electronic lumbar support. Soft, lofty pillows and comforters with tasteful duvet covers are intended make stretching out and nodding off to sleep irresistible to passengers.
Every seat in EVA's A330-200s has an individual, state-of-the-art audio/video on demand (AVOD) entertainment system. These customized systems use digitalized soft and hardware to give passengers complete control of a selection of as many as 20 movies or television features plus more than 500 songs and pieces of music that can be edited into personalized play lists. The AVOD system also features games that enable passengers traveling together to play and enjoy friendly competition en route.
EVA Air's A330-200s are all configured with 24 seats in Premium Laurel Class seats and 228 in Economy Class. EVA serves a global network of 42 major business and leisure destinations on four continents, and operates one of the industry's most extensive route systems in Asia. |
