Business Traveler Ranks EVA’s White, Red Wines Among Best
White wine awarded 2nd, red 5th place in magazine’s annual Cellars in the Sky

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, (29 Feb., 2008) -- EVA Air’s entries ranked second in the Best White Wine category and fifth among Best Red Wines in Business Traveler Magazine’s 2007 business class Cellars in the Sky competition. Business Traveler presented its Cellars in the Sky Awards at the Business Travel Show 5 Feb., 2008 at London’s Earls Court Two.

For more than two decades, Business Traveler has held annual Cellars in the Sky Awards to celebrate the best wines served by airlines in business and first class on long-haul flights.  As it has in the past, Business Traveler teamed up with the renowned Wine and Spirit Magazine, the organizer of the International Wine Challenge.

“We are thrilled that EVA has been singled out for the quality of our wines in such a prestigious competition,” said K.W. Nieh, Executive Vice President, EVA Air.  “We know our Premium Laurel business class passengers enjoy drinking these wines, and we think they’ll appreciate knowing their choices have been recognized for excellence by an international panel of experts.”

EVA’s second-place award winner was a German white wine, Christoffel Erben Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Spatlese 2003, Mosel. Medium-bodied, this white wine tastes of apples, candied lemon and zesty citrus fruits.  Its fifth-place selection was a French red wine, Chateau Beaumont, 2003 from an area on the left bank of the Garonne River between Saint-Julien and Margaux.  Recognized among wine aficionados as one of the finest crus bourgeois in the Medoc region, the medium-bodied red wine is characterized by aromas of coffee, tobacco and jam and a light, fruity finish.

Air France was recognized for the Best Business Class White Wine.  Air New Zealand submitted the winning Business Class Red Wine, Air France came in second, TAM Brazilian Airlines, third, and South African Airways, fourth.  A total of 26 airlines participated in Business Traveler’s awards.  The judges’ blind tastings took place at the Radisson SAS Portman Hotel in London in November 2007. Entries were evaluated in a total of 14 categories across business and first class, with awards for best red, white, sparkling and fortified wines, as well as overall cellar awards.  Additional information and a complete listing of 2007 Cellars in the Sky winners is available at the Business Traveler Magazine web site, http://www.businesstraveller.com/news/business-traveller-cellars-in-the-sky-awards-2007.

This is the second high honor EVA Air has received for the quality of its wines, which were selected as Best Overall Wines on the Wing in 2007 by Global Traveler Magazine in the United States.  Global Traveler presented its awards at a January 2008 event in New York City.

EVA’s Premium Laurel Class is the airline’s new, state-of-the-art top cabin.  It features first-class amenities at business-class fares and gives travelers a long list of special services, including online meal selection.  As far in advance as 21 days and as late as 24 hours before scheduled flights, passengers can choose from an extensive menu of tasty Asian and Western foods, including gourmet meals, healthy choices  and regional specialties.  By selecting meals in advance online, EVA Premium Laurel Class passengers get the added advantage of more choices than they can have if they wait until they board the flight.  It’s as easy as finding special fares, booking and buying tickets, or getting other information about travel via EVA’s web site at http://www.evaair.com.
