Taipei – Tokyo Travel Made Easier By New EVA Flights
Airline starts service between close-in Songshan, Haneda airports

EVA Air is now linking Taipei's and Tokyo's city centers with new nonstop flights between the close-in airports in both cities.  Taipei's Songshan International Airport and Tokyo's Haneda Airport (Tokyo International Airport) are within 20 minutes of the respective cities' downtowns, significantly reducing travel times and providing exceptionally convenient service for business and leisure passengers.  EVA initiated the new service on Oct. 31, 2010 with two flights a day plus two more through a code share with Air Nippon Airways (ANA).   When the airline introduces its planned service between Taipei's Songshan and Seoul's close-in Gimpo International Airport, it will create a Golden Northeast Asia Flight Circle and make one-day trips within the region a convenient reality for its passengers.

EVA celebrated the new link between the cities' centers with festivities in Taipei and Tokyo.  "We started Taoyuan – Haneda service back in September 2000," said James Jeng, President, EVA Air.  "We fly from Taoyuan to Narita International Airport, too, and the logical progression has been that we close the loop with flights between the close-in airports."

EVA is the official carrier for the 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo and treated those booked on its maiden Taipei Songshan-Tokyo Haneda flight to travel on an Airbus 330-200 with a specially designed Flora Cabin.  The passenger experienced more than 40 specially themed cabin-service items and had the opportunity to enjoy EVA's hospitality and also to glimpse the beauty and welcoming spirit of the Flora Expo.

Though China now holds huge potential, Japan has traditionally been the biggest tourism market for Taiwan.  More than one million Japanese visitors traveled to Taiwan in each of the last five years.   EVA's new Taipei Songshan – Tokyo Haneda service is expected to encourage more travel between Taiwan and Japan and to be especially attractive to Japanese visitors attending the Flora Expo, running Nov. 6, 2010 – April 25, 2011.

EVA will continue to use an A330-200 configured with 24 Premium Laurel Class business seats and 228 in its Economy cabin.  The Taiwan-based carrier serves an international network with destinations throughout Asia, Europe, Oceania and North America.    Flight schedules for the new Taipei Songshan – Tokyo Haneda service follow at the end of this news release.  Bookings, reservations and more information about EVA Air and its services are available at www.evaair.com .
