EVA Reintroduces Its Freighter Flights, Taipei to Vienna
Carrier significantly lifts Central and Eastern European airfreight export capacity

TAIPEI, TAIWAN (March 22, 2010) -- EVA Air Cargo reintroduced its freighter service to Vienna on March 18, 2010.  The carrier is operating a Boeing 747-400 freighter on a Taipei–Delhi–Vienna route inbound and via Vienna-Brussels-Delhi-Taipei on its return to Asia. The dedicated cargo flights arrive in the Vienna Airport on Thursday and Sunday at 11:10 a.m. (11:10), unload and reload in only two hours, and depart at 1:10 p.m. (13:10).

With these two flights a week, EVA is giving freighter and logistics markets in Austria and neighboring Central and Eastern European countries a total of 36-to-60 additional tons of air cargo capacity. At the same time, the carrier is continuing to provide 24-to-36 tons of belly space a week on its three passenger flights. By adding the dedicated freighters, EVA has significantly expanded the region’s export capacity.

“We’ve re-launched freighter flights to Vienna to meet demand in the air cargo business that began to rise during the fourth quarter of 2009 with the start of worldwide economic recovery,” said K W Nieh, EVA Air Spokesman.  “Demand from the Central and Eastern European region is especially promising and our target for the next few months is to meet these airfreight needs with increased capacity. These freighter flights enhance our EVA Air Cargo market share in the Central and Eastern European Region.  We’ll build on this service to optimize our opportunities for future growth in Austria and its neighboring countries.”

EVA provides a volume of 600 cubic meters on each Taipei-Delhi-Vienna-Brussels- Delhi-Taipei flight, accommodating as many as 32 pallets on the main deck and either nine pallets or 30 containers on the lower deck.

The kinds of goods transported from Asia to Europe include notebooks computers, television sets and parts, jewelry, miscellaneous gift items, textiles, electronics, entertainment-industry equipment and mobile phones.  Among goods carried from Europe to Asia are cars (Volkswagens, BMWs, ultra-lightweight X-Bow sports cars), turbines, solar-energy equipment, wine, crystal jewelry (Swarovski), fire-proof blast- furnaces stones (RHI), drinks (Red Bull, lemonades) and kitchens (Gorenje cabinets, appliances and furniture).
