Foreign visitors entering Taiwan
For non-Taiwanese passport holders entering Taiwan, please click here for visa information published by the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
For Mainland China passport holder who wishes to take direct flights between Mainland China and Taiwan, or onward to other destinations with connecting flights in Taiwan, must obtain a valid travel document and visa that qualifies for admission to Taiwan.
EVA Air and UNI Air are not responsible for passengers who fail to obtain proper documentation prior to travel. Failure to do so may result in denied boarding and additional costs.

All nationals or citizens of member countries who plan to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) will require an approved Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to the United States. Information about ESTA is available at http://www.cbp.gov/esta.

Advance Passenger Information (API)
If you travel to Australia, Canada, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom or the United States, we are required to collect various pieces of personal information.
This ‘Advance Passenger Information’ (API) includes data in a passenger's passport or travel document as well as other information. When travelling to the United States, you must also provide the first address at which you will be staying at your destination. The API data is sent to the immigration authorities of your destination.
The API data includes information on the machine-readable zone on your passport:
- Family name and first name
- Date of birth and gender
- Passport number
- Country that issued the passport
- Passport expiry date
- Nationality
- Country of residence (for travel to the United States only)
- Temporary address where you will be staying (for travel to the United States only). This address must include the house number or hotel name, street, city/town, abbreviation used for the state and the zip code.
We recommend that you provide this information as early as possible by contacting your travel agent, or during online check-in. If checking in online is not possible, you can also enter the necessary data at a self service check-in machine available at Terminal 2 of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Taipei Songshan Airport. If you depart from an airport where you can only check in at the desk, our staff will register the API data on your passport.
